Hudson Valley String Quartet (HVSQ) was established in 2012 and has gained respect in the Mid-Hudson region for its professionalism and high-quality performances. HVSQ is a source of personal and professional growth for its members. The group's ongoing mission is educating its audiences and students.

Join with current members to learn and perform classical and contemporary quartet literature. We rehearse weekly. Members spend their own time on part practice, score study, and rehearsal recording review. Members have other professional and personal obligations and are respectful of each other’s time by being prompt and prepared for rehearsal to the best of their ability. We encourage new ideas and rehearsal methods. Each member actively participates in publicizing concerts.

Current members reside in the Mid-Hudson Valley region of New York State, in the towns of Monroe, New Paltz, and Warwick. The group has a sponsored rehearsal space in the Newburgh area, usually Mondays (3-6pm) or Wednesdays (2-5pm), but we are open to exploring different times and locations. Prospective members should reside in the Mid-Hudson Valley, or be willing to travel weekly to that area.

Vassar College (Poughkeepsie), Dutchess Community College (Poughkeepsie), Mohonk Mountain House (New Paltz), Unison Arts Center (New Paltz), Orange County Arts Council (Goshen), etc.

We are each other’s first call for additional work. Due to our ties to important local organizations HVSQ is frequently asked to perform as an ensemble to accompany soloists and groups, provide music at public events (fund raisers, galas, etc.), and private events (house concerts, weddings, etc).

A member with drive and fresh ideas and would be welcomed. Opportunities for input might include (but are not limited to) group management ideas, grant writing, program and funding development, outreach to new concert series. The sky’s the limit!
